Dear Friends,

‘To God be the glory great things He has done’.  We greet you once again in the name of our Jehovah, Our Provider. Let us bring you up to date with what has been happening here in our ministry.

Emmanuel Baptist Church

In July, fifteen of us attended a Bible Conference on the island of Trinidad.  All of us came back with a greater desire to serve our Lord.  We are very excited about the changes that we have seen in the young people who went to the conference.  We hope to resume work on the building this coming Saturday.  All the money for the roof has not come in as yet, but we are not wavering in faith because we know that God will provide.

The four young people from the church who are attending Bible College have begun their second year.  We were hoping that another young man would have started college this year, but he is not doing well spiritually.  Please pray for him. God knows his name.

Baptist Bible College of the Caribbean

College reopened on August 12, 2002 with the ten returning students and two new ones.  These new ones are from Trinidad and Barbados.  We were hoping that more would come, but the Lord has sent only two, and we are thankful for them.  We will work along with the Lord to train our twelve ‘apostles’.

If we were to attempt to relate to you the number of ways that God has met the needs of this college, you would be reading pages upon pages.  I know you do not have the time for that, so we will share with one of the most recent ones.  We needed someone to build some cabinets in our new dish room, but we did not have the money to pay.  We prayed about this need for several months, and the Lord sent a young man from the neighbouring of Barbados to do the job for us.  He and his family were on their way to our home for dinner when Richard decided to give them a tour of the college.  It was then that we realized that he is joiner.  He joyfully offered to take three days from his vacation to build the cupboards free of charge.  What a Mighty God we serve!

Please continue to pray with us about the following:

            Teachers

Builders & materials for the new Girls’ dorm

            Money to purchase 5 computers

            Prospective students

Praise the Lord with us for these answers to prayers:

            Three new typewriters

            New cabinets in dish room

            Support from more West Indians

            Cooperative and helpful students

Our Family

The Lord has opened the doors for our daughter, Richlene, to attend Northland Baptist Bible College.  She is majoring in Music to return to teach at the college.  Please pray for her; this is a great challenge for her.  Richardo, our son, is in his last year of high school.  He has really grown to love singing in the choir and song leading at church.  We are both busy in our two ministries.  We are happy that our Lord has placed us, earthen vessels, in His ministry.  We do need your continued prayers.

Thank you for your support and your love.  ‘May the Lord find us faithful’ is our daily prayer.

 Labourers together,

Richard & Elene Hill

Dear Friends,

'To God be the glory great things He hath done.'  Thank you for your faithful  monthly support of our ministry here in St. Vincent.  You would not begin to imagine how appreciative we are  for the financial help that you are giving to us as we labour on this island where cost of living is so very high.

The Lord has added a significant number of believers to our church over the past few weeks.  Some were saved during evangelistic meetings in May and a number of children between ages seven and fourteen got saved last week at Bible Club.  We praise the Lord for His work among us.

A few Sundays ago we baptized a lady who is in forties.  What is so special about this lady?  She got saved a few months ago.  During that time she was living with her children's father.  He showed no interest in getting saved or marrying her, so she broke up with him.  This is very encouraging to us because for years we have been praying for ladies who are afraid to get saved because they live with a man who has no interest in marrying them or in getting saved.  Please pray for Velma because she is poor and jobs are very scarce on this island.  We are helping her the best we can, but we are praying that she will be able to get as job.  She is praying for a Christian husband.

Please continue to pray for the Bible College.  We are happy to report that Tri City Baptist Church has found a used bus for the college.  Pray that we will be able to get the money for the shipping and for the duty.  We will be applying for  concession on the duty.  Please pray that this will be granted.  The government has approved the plans for the new girls' dorm. Praise the Lord with us for this answer to prayers.  We need skilled workmen and money for materials.  If you know a mason or a carpenter or any other skilled person who will be interested in coming to Caribbean to help us build, please let him know of our needs.

We have begun to put in the ring beam on our church.  We have enough money for the rafters, but we do not have enough for the galvanize.  Please pray with us that we will get the money soon.

Our family is doing well.  Richlene graduates from Junior College this month.  She believes the Lord will have her perfect her Music skills so that she can be the Music teacher at the college in the next four years.  We are praying that the Lord will provide the money for her to go to Northland Baptist College to major in Music. Please pray with us.

Thanks again for your part in our ministry here.

Dear  Bro Wood,

Thanks for your email.

It is  a very busy time here at the college and the church.  We  have just completed our first Bible conference at the college, and  this took a lot of time for us-- faculty and students.  In addition, we have been preparing and grading exams.  My wife and I are holding the fort here at the college because the other missionaries had to return to the States  for their son's graduation.  Also, we are doing some construction work to make room for the  new students who will be coming for the next school year.

We have just concluded a week of special meetings.  Four persons walked forward to receive Christ as Saviour.  We do not know how many more received Christ in their home or through private contacts.  This will be known as the weeks unfold.  We are still saving and waiting upon the Lord to send some money to help us to get the roof on the church building before the rainy season starts.  We did an estimate on the roof and discovered that it will cost approximately $ 20 000.00 E.C. or  $7 500 U.S.  We have about 10% of the money so far, and we are trusting the Lord to provide.  The believers are poor, but they have been giving of their time, labour and money and we praise the Lord for that.

We do want to keep in touch more regularly, but we are really, really busy here.  We wish we were only required to give a three-month report, but we will try to more often. My last newsletter is on the computer at the college; it seems as if you did not get it.  I will check the date on that.  I sent it to W.I. Missions.  Do they send you a copy or are we supposed to send one directly to you?

Thanks for your patience with us?

In Christ,
Richard & Elene Hill

Dear Brother Wood,

Seasons greeting to you!  We trust you'll have a blessed New Year.
The following is a copy of our newsletter.
Dear Friends,

We extend warmest Christmas Greetings and a Happy New Year to all of you.  It's hard to believe we are a just a few days away from 2002.

As we reflect on the past year, our hearts overflow with gratitude to our Lord for all  that He has done.  We are all aware that the devil has  worked extremely hard this year to bring discouragement to all people, but we are confident that God is in control.

It will take pages and pages to recount the blessings of God upon or ministries here in St. Vincent throughout this year, so we will give you a summary.

PRAISE

We thank Gos for seeing us through the  first semester of Bible college.  God has miraculously met all our needs.

Praise God for keeping our family healthy and for safety on these narrow winding roads.

We are grateful to our Lord for allowing us to begin the expansion of our church and for some of our young people who are students at our college.

God has used you to support us with your prayers and/or possessions.  He has also used some of you to meet many, many needs in our lives and we praise Him for all that He has done.

Baptist Bible College of the Caribbean

Our ten students left on Friday, December 21, 2001 for Christmas break.  Elene and I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching them and fellowshipping with them.

Pray that we will be able to construct another building to house the anticipated increased student population next year.

Pray for more teachers and for finance to meet the needs of the college.

Our Family

Our son, Richardo turned fifteen years on the 18th of this month.  He enjoys leading songs and has led in the Sunday evening service.  He has one more year of high school.  Richlene, our daughter, is attending a Technical College.  She hopes to attend a Bible College where she can major in Music.  She believes the Lord will have her teach Music at our college someday.  Elene and I are busy in the different ministries to which the Lord has called us.  We are happy that the Lord has chosen us to serve here.  Sometimes it is very discouraging and difficult, but we do not despair because the Lord has promised to be with us always and meet every need.

Thanks again for your care and concern throughout 2001.  We do need your continued support in the years to come.

Your Fellow Labourers,

Dear  Pastor & Members

We praise  the Lord for His help and protection thus far this year.  We are also very grateful  to Him for keeping us in good health to do the work that He has called us to do.  It is very sobering to remember that we are mere earthen vessels whom the Lord has chosen to be His  laborers.

FAMILY
As a family, we are continually overwhelmed  at the wonderful times that the Lord allows us to have together.  It is truly a blessing to be able to serve the Lord together.  Of course, the devil makes many attempts to spoil our joy, but praise God that ‘greater is He that is in us than He that is in the world’.

Please pray for our two children as they try to share the gospel with their friends at school that the seed which they sow will bring forth fruit.  Richlene will be  doing external exams from the May to June.  Please remember her in your prayers.  This is her last year of high school; she graduates in May.

CHURCH

We still have not been able to begin the extension of our church building.  Apart from not having the money to do so, we were told that the Planning Division may not grant us permission because we do not have enough space for parking.  Please with us about this over the next few weeks because a believer from the church will be having a discussion with the person in charge.  We desperately need the extra space because we have reached our capacity.  Our people have become more excited about giving to the building fund after a message by a visiting preacher.  It’s our prayer that they will honor their promise.  At present we  help to support one national pastor and the Bible College.  We hope to do more this year as we were also challenged to start Faith Promise Giving.

Some of  the young men from our church, who are planning to attend  the Bible College when it reopens in August are helping with the renovations.  We are excited that these young people will be  taking advantage of the opportunity to be trained to be servant leaders in the vineyard of our Lord.

On Sunday afternoons, Elene and some of the ladies have an outreach ministry in one of the neighboring villages.  Last Sunday 4 of the young girls received  Jesus as their Savior.  Please for them and this ministry.

Baptist Bible College

Work progresses at the college and the goal is to have the renovations completed for August 27, 2001.  The financial needs are great as there is lot more work to be done than we anticipated.   The most pressing need right now is finance to change approximately 60 windows and several doors.  If the Lord lays it upon your heart to help this ministry, please send your gift to:
Baptist Bible College of the Caribbean
P.O. Box 176
Kingstown
St. Vincent

May the Lord richly bless you as you continue to serve Him.  Thank you for playing a part in our  ministry through your prayers and your financial support.

Laborers together,

Richard, Elene, Richlene & Richardo Hill
