BAPTIST NEW CHURCH MISSION
SEMINOLE  UPDATE
APRIL, 2005

Dear Praying Friends,

We thank you once again for your faithful monthly support.  It is only through your sacrifice that we are able to maintain our ministry on the Brighton Reservation.

We were blessed to have Pastor Bill Henwood and his wife, Ida May, from Lake Ariel, Pa. visit with us early in April.  Brother Henwood preached and taught Sunday School.  All the folks at Brighton Seminole Bible Baptist Church really enjoyed the fellowship and look  forward to seeing them again.

We finally got our drivers licenses changed over to Florida, which went smoothly, but when we switched our vehicle insurance over to a Florida agent we were floored by the increase of the monthly premium.  Could be as much as three to four, even five times higher!  It is not quite finalized but please pray that the amount will be able to be lowered.  The cost is higher due to adding Joel, who only just got his license, and also due to the fact that our motor home seems to be a “one of a kind” and they don't know how to estimate it so they are    pricing it really high.

Another prayer request we have is for permanent housing.  There is a possibility of remodeling a house on the church compound.  There has been some discussion on this but the folks have not yet committed to the project.  We also have a building lot the Lord has provided.  We believe it is His will for us to build a house eventually.  As a family of four, with a big dog, we have been experiencing RV life for around three years!  Please understand I am not complaining, but I truly believe all four of us, correction: all five of us, even our dog Belle, are ready to graduate from “Patience University” with honors!  2 Kings 6:1

Finally, I would ask you to pray that God will open doors for us so that we can present our ministry in Florida churches this summer.  We cannot leave for an extended period as we did last summer.  Our support is steady but still way under what we need for housing.

We welcome any individuals to e-mail us and always welcome anyone to come by Brighton for a visit!

BAPTIST  NEW  CHURCH  MISSION
SEMINOLE  UPDATE
JANUARY, 2005

Dear Praying Friends,

Our family is all doing fine.  The last two months have been especially encouraging here at the Seminole Bible Baptist Church on the Brighton Reservation.  The church has voted to adopt the constitution and doctrinal statement that we studied and discussed last summer!  Praise the Lord that the church now has a concise understanding of its purpose, doctrine and bylaws.  We sometimes wish the pace of progress would quicken but Native Americans, by nature, proceed with caution.

Though the progress in the church seems slow to us, we appreciate the fact that the people, during this time, are considering, discussing and praying about the direction of the church.  They want to leave no one behind and move by consensus.  Unity is what they desire and in the long run it actually strengthens the church.  Unity is a key element in churches that is often cast aside for the sake of the appearance of progress.  Ephesians 4:3&13.

We celebrated Christmas and New Years at several gatherings with the Seminoles.  Each important day has its own traditions which we enjoyed. Opportunities also arose for preaching the Gospel and teaching the Word of God to the Indians which we would only meet at these special occasions.

We are witnessing a steady growth in the lives of individual believers to which we minister.  Believers from other churches and reservations say that they see a great change for the better in the morale of the S.B.B.C. as a whole. One example of this spiritual growth occurred when we were traveling to the reservation late Tuesday night.  We received a cell call from one of the Indian ladies who had just witnessed to another lady.  She asked me if I would lead the lady in the sinner’s prayer!  As I held the steering wheel of the R.V. with one hand and the cell phone with the other, we prayed together.  Jennifer called on the Lord Jesus to save her and confessed Him as Lord.

We appreciate the Tennant family from Emmanuel Baptist Church in  Winchester, Virginia, who did a lot of painting at the church compound.  THANK YOU!

Thanks again for the prayers and financial support.  God is still bringing in the balance of our monthly support.  Please keep praying to that end!  We know that it is only through your sacrifice that we are able to continue His work at the Brighton Reservation,  “For we are laborers together with God”…
